About Monarch
The Vision
Research is moving faster than ever. Every day, thousands of papers are published across arXiv, OpenReview, bioRxiv, and countless journals. The most important breakthroughs often hide in plain sight—buried in feeds, missed by keywords, lost in the noise.
Monarch exists to solve this. We believe that staying at the frontier of science shouldn't require reading 50 papers a day or relying on Twitter threads to tell you what matters. It should feel effortless—like having a brilliant colleague who reads everything and tells you exactly what you need to know.
Monarch is your guide to the frontier of science. We surface the papers that matter to you, help you understand them deeply, and connect ideas across disciplines so you can see patterns others miss.
The Lorenz Machine
Behind Monarch is the Lorenz Machine—our intelligence engine for research discovery, named after Edward Lorenz and the famous Butterfly Effect.
In chaos theory, small changes in initial conditions can lead to vastly different outcomes—a butterfly's wings in Brazil might trigger a tornado in Texas. The same is true in research: a single paper, read at the right time, can redirect an entire career or spark a breakthrough.
The Lorenz Machine continuously ingests papers from major repositories, extracts semantic signals, tracks researcher networks, and builds a living map of how ideas connect and evolve. It learns what you care about—not just keywords, but concepts, methods, and research directions.
The result: recommendations that improve every time you explore, and a feed that surfaces signal before it becomes noise.
Why "Monarch"?
The monarch butterfly undertakes one of nature's most remarkable journeys—migrating thousands of miles across continents, navigating by Earth's magnetic field and the position of the sun. No individual butterfly completes the entire journey; it takes generations, each one picking up where the last left off.
Science works the same way. Knowledge is cumulative. Every researcher builds on what came before, and the most important discoveries often come from connecting ideas across generations of work.
We built Monarch to give you the same instinct the butterfly has—an innate sense of direction through the vast landscape of human knowledge, always moving toward the frontier.
The Team
Founder
Keshav is building Monarch to solve a problem he experienced firsthand: the overwhelming challenge of staying current with research while working at the intersection of AI, science, and engineering. With a background spanning machine learning, product development, and research, he's obsessed with making the frontier of science accessible to everyone who wants to explore it.
I'm a student, learning every day. Monarch is built with deep gratitude to the researchers, engineers, mentors, and advisors who have guided me along the way—from early feedback on paper recommendations to conversations about what it truly means to understand a field. This project stands on the shoulders of giants, and I'm thankful to everyone who believes in making science more accessible.
